SS Robin has now been moved from outside ExCel to Trinity Buoy Wharf. But its journey was somewhat circuitous, as it had to leave the Royal Docks by passing through a large lock at the far end. This lock turned out to be fully functional, despite its looks.

The Southwark Cyclists Snowmen Ride on Saturday December 9th was fully booked, so those who didn't have Eventbrite ticket were not allowed to go on it. However, as the snowmen are to be found in the City of London, there's no reason why people who aren't Southwark residents can't organise a social ride to see them.

Lose those Christmas calories. Join us at Cutty Sark at 9.30am for the first ride of the year along the glorious Thames Path to Erith and back. We will stop for a refreshment break at the Riverside Shopping Centre in Erith. Suitable for all bikes and ages but bring a spare inner tube and lights.

There is a postcode lottery about which boroughs you have to live in, if you want to automatically belong to a borough-specific cycling group that organises "free" social rides that are open to all. The boroughs shown in blue on this map do not have an LCC website, probably because they are not left wing enough.

It was a lovely sunny morning when four of us met at the Southwark Needle to do what had morphed into a Silvertown Tunnel Ride. Unfortunately one of our riders couldn't make it because of a domestic emergency. There were no Southwark Healthy Riders in sight, but this must have been because we had chosen a wrong Saturday. There was another group of four at the start point, but it wasn't clear what website they had used to arrange to meet up.

Experiments have been carried out to see what would happen if someone tried to clone the "official" Cyclists in Southwark website and set up an unofficial one. It would still have HTTPS encryption, but its security certificate would be "self-signed", rather an being approved of by an official organisation. Rides could be advertised on the site, but they would be uninsured. If you want to find this "fake" Cyclists In Southwark website, its URL is the subdomain f.cyclistsinsouthwark.org.uk.

Kent: the final frontier. Our five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where hardly any Southwark Cyclist has gone before!

This was our ride for April 1st. But I won't be using Michaels Lane again, as there were only inches to spare to allow cars to pass me - a route via Fawkham Green, Ash and Hartley Bottom Road would be much safer.
